How to be Happier: The Five Minute Journal.

I first heard about the five minute journal from the YouTube channel of Alex Ikonn, the creator of the journal. I’ve had it for a while now, and it’s one of the most helpful tools I’ve had to keep track of where I’m going in life and of my purpose. Everyday, in the morning, i’m reminded of the things I’m grateful for, and what i’m striving for in my life. Plus, there’s a part for night time, where you evaluate what was great from that day, and what could have been better. It’s a great tool for anyone that wants to have a better life. It had many positive reviews, from notable people as Tim Ferris (the four hour workweek) and Alex Ikonn himself.

How it works

As soon as you wake up, you pick up your journal and start writing. It’s important to do this right away, because it sets you in a good vibe for the rest of the day. You first have a quote at the top of the page to inspire you.

Then, you write 3 things you’re grateful for, 3 things that would make today great, and you write an affirmation.

At night, you right just before you go to bed, to clear your mind and to reflect on the day. You write what went well that day, and what could have been better.


The five minute journal is one of the best tools I’ve had in my life. Kudos to Alex for making this awesome journal. It only takes five minutes, and works great!
